Lillie Francis Peacock

March 11, 2022

Going back several years, and in continuing our celebration of women’s history month and the contributions that women have made to East Point, the East Point Historical Society would like to feature Lillie Francis Peacock, eldest daughter of Thomas and Rose Peacock. She grew up in East Point and attended Central School in downtown East Point. In 1926, at the age of 18, she accepted a position as clerk with the City of East Point. In 1937, she became Assistant City Clerk and stayed in that position until her retirement in 1952, at the age of 44. In her personal life, she was known by people as a true ‘Good Samaritan’ and was known to help others irrespective of race, color or creed and was a founder of the East Point Music Club. She eventually moved from East Point and spent the remainder of her years in Marietta. At the age of 97 when she passed, she was buried at Westview Cemetery.

More information about her can be found at the East Point Historical Society along with photos and stories of other amazing East Point women, that have shaped East Point’s history.
